Meanwhile - I have this amazing kid who does amazing shit all the time and I don't know what I did to have such a great kid. If you've ever met my oldest daughter you know exactly what I mean. She's an absolute star.

“Keep digging,” I said then touched Dane on the shoulder. “You’re with me. Let’s go.”
If we were lucky we’d be back in time for dinner.
I turned and smacked into Sean. His hands gripped my upper arms and he lifted me sideways.
“Funny,” I said, as he let me go.
“Always will be,” he said looking down at me with his steel grey eyes. “Diego called.”
A glimmer of sparkle flashed in the grey. “This Ellis guy is locked up?”
“He is. And I’ve suggested the CPD stay on, you okay with that?”
“Yes. I’m heading to Mikki’s for dinner tonight. We’ll talk tomorrow?”
“Thanks, El,” Sean said with a wink. “Thanks for being there for her.”
“No thanks required. Are you going to be here much longer?”
“Here, here?” He waved his hand around the room. “Or Northern Virginia here?”
“I’m lending Sandra a hand for another hour or so then I’ll go visit my little sister.”
I nodded. “Dane and I are going to find Sergeant Green.”
