It's not always as easy as it looks...

It doesn’t always go as smoothly as you’d think – this writing lark.

Mostly it goes exactly how I think it will go, and then all of a sudden the story packs a snot and goes running home to mommy. This week it was like that. Not that I could really get much work done with a sick child, but when I did have the chance – it just wouldn’t.

Can you say frustrating?

And, no, it’s not writers block – there is no such beast.

What was it?

A scene that insisted it wanted to be in the middle of this book and would not let me move it… and it was wrong! WRONG!

So last night when I realized the issue was the scene I knew what I had to do. This morning I began the gutting process. Yeah, gutting. I gutted the middle of the WIP. Ripped it out and all later references to it and plonked it where it actually belongs – at the end. Tricky bugger thought it could camp in the middle of my book and screw everything up… Scenes in the wrong place? Noooooo.

With the offending scene moved (and really, it is quite offensive) I got to work… I wrote several new scenes and everything is flowing along nicely now.

That’ll teach it to fuck with me.

Looking forward to getting this book finished now that I know where everything belongs and am starting to get a handle on who did what. Would’ve been done by now if Ellie hadn’t insisted on this scene being where it didn’t belong!

Ha ha ha,  Power Rangers are on TV. Talk about crap!

Oh, man, I can’t watch this – I can’t believe they re-made it WORSE than the original. Although I shouldn’t be surprised… come on people, make something NEW.

Let me suggest my books, at least they’re NEW and FRESH! Okay, they’re not for kids… but I’ve moved on to complaining about the lack of entertaining movies and TV for us grown-up types. Apart from NCIS, NCIS LA, and Criminal minds there is nothing worth watching – they’re canned Human Target, which was the only other decent show!!

Right, back to work… but y’all have something to think about now, don’t ya??

killerbyte would make an excellent TV series (or movie, but I reckon TV series first!)
Hell, they all would. :)

Will there be any time to write this week?

Sometimes writing goes out the window – it’s not usually one reason, because mostly just one event doesn’t impact that greatly on writing time.

This week didn’t start out great – Breezy has been sick since last Thursday with what was thought to be a virus, but she got progressively worse yesterday and this morning. Doc says she has pneumonia.  She’s miserable most of the time, except for about two hours of the day, between about 2 and 4PM. (Which it is now… and she’s reading the Bon Jovi book to Romeo. Yeah, that’s right. The child is sitting on the floor with the dog and my Kindle, reading the Bon Jovi book to the dog.)

Apart from a sick Breezy, not much else is going on. Sick kids are those very time consuming of events that impact HUGELY on writing time.

So, after going to the Doc today – I haven’t actually done a lot. The last little while has been spent watching Breezy and Romeo. She gave him HER pillow – no one touches THE PILLOW. Romeo is laying down with his head on her pillow – they’re sharing a blanket. He’s enjoying it, she’s enjoying it. Breezy and Romeo - definitely a match made in heaven. He is perfect for Breezy and has the biggest heart and endless patience. (Maybe that’s why Romeo was referred to as a Jesus dog by the women at the GAP kennels??)

Romeo is succeeding where I couldn’t the last few days… he’s got her smiling and even giggling. (Between bouts of coughing)

While she’s playing and the dog is sleeping I might get a chance to do some writing.

That’d be nice.

On Sunday I discovered by Googling “Cat Connor readers’ writers” (after David Kentner said I should Google it.) that the interview David did with me is EVERYWHERE. Seriously, there are 9 pages of places that are carrying that interview across the USA.

I was stunned.

This is something that only kiwis will probably get but I keep hearing, “I’ve been everywhere, man. I’ve been Explore Air man.” Yep, I have Selwyn Toogood stuck in my head!!! Just freaking Brilliant.

Well, that’s all from me for now.

Strawberry Shortcake is on TV, Romeo is fast asleep under a Dora blanket with his head on Breezy’s pillow… and Squealer is going to Kate’s. I see an hour of writing time ahead and I’m off to utilize it!

Sunday night and all's well?

All day Breezy has been singing “Black velvet band.”

We don’t know why… I love that she knows most of the words. It’s always been one of my favorite tunes.

As for the rest of the day – Breezy is still sick. Her temp was 39.5 tonight. Nights are worse, although she’s not that good the rest of the day either. It’s not much fun for her. She looks so sad.

Apart from the sick Breezy… the weekend was quiet. I got some fleece fabric today to make Romeo some camo jammies. Yeah, camo jammies. There wasn’t a lot of choice in manly type fleece. I really don’t want my dog wearing little yellow duckie jammies or butterflies.

Also went to Animates to get the crack for the cat. (You probably call it Fancy Feast – trust me it’s cat crack – she goes fuc’n nuts if we run out, despite the fact that she was Purina cat biscuits as well! I think the cat can count, when we get down to a few cans she starts to panic.)

While we were there, we got Romeo a honking stuffed yellow duck! He loves it. Took him a few minutes to figure out how to make it honk. He’s so cute.

Tonight it’s raining – he went to the door, looked out and went back to bed. Hilarious.

At the moment I’m being totally blinded by the sparkle on my eyes, that’ll teach me for finding a set of five glitter eye shadows – the type that wouldn’t be out of place in a strip joint or maybe on the set of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. We’re talking real glitter here people!

I couldn’t resist playing with it. So my eyes are shining like diamonds, now if I could just find a black velvet band. I’m pretty darn sure I could be the queen of the land.

Okay moving right along before this crazy train derails completely.

Hoping Breezy will be better tomorrow  - but not betting on it.

So here’s her favorite song of the day:

Do we have to go here again??

Something’s really annoy me – I find myself especially annoyed by things that people can fix and fix quickly. I’m going to be using some examples now from the last week or so…

1. The whole Domino’s saga – it doesn’t take over a week to reverse a credit card transaction… in this case TWO transactions, especially when NEITHER should have been debited from my account in the first place.

So – fuck you Domino’s. You did too little too late and I am still down a wad of money. (Could’ve used that to buy meat for my family, but no, you obviously don’t give a flying fuck about the people you are ripping off.)

2. People who don’t fuc’n grasp that books do not write themselves AND THEY ARE NOT FREE. It takes a LONG time and a lot of effort to write a novel, then even longer and more effort to find a publisher, then MORE time and effort working with an editor etc etc… and THEN, there are the interviews, marketing, promotion – while writing the next book, and so the cycle goes. And sales are where our money comes from… not the fuc’n lending fairy. SALES. If you go lending books to the whole damn street, authors miss out on SALES. From sales we get paid, not much mind you, but it’s better than the nothing we get from NO sales! So, think on this… if you lend my books (Or let’s use a music example, Lorenza’s CDs.) to ten people…  and they in turn lend the book/CD to another ten each… and so on, that’s a lot of sales lost. Can you see how this escalates?

Brings to mind the old adage, “why buy the cow if you get the milk for free.”

And saying all that just completely goes over most people heads, because they still don’t see anything wrong in what they do.

But, I wouldn’t expect a plumber or electrician to work for free, and I sure as hell wouldn’t expect him to go visit twenty of my friends and do their work for free… it’s no different, people, no different at all!

3. Poor Service.
Seriously… you know you have a party of twenty or so coming into your restaurant for a 21st dinner… so put on enough staff both in the kitchen and in the restaurant!! Do not make people wait two and a half hours before their food appears. And if you do make people wait that damn long the food had better be exceptional… oh, but it wasn’t. It was barely average. What’s worse the ‘kids’ menu was utter shite. Guess where we won’t be eating again? Yeah, the Furnace at the Tote in Trentham. Below par food, service and quite frankly not worth the trouble.

Addressing the patrons in the restaurant as “Youse Fellas” not so endearing when we’re starving. Trying to get an ice-cream sundae for Breezy… who wasn’t well, but didn’t want to miss out on the special birthday dinner… and her having to wait two hours for ice-cream and then discovering it was two pathetic scoops with a drizzle of store bought strawberry sauce over the top… that ain’t a sundae. We do better at home and it doesn’t take two hours to prepare!!

Lift your game, because that sucks.

I’ve obviously been completely ruined by dining out in America… where service means service, food is glorious, and there is no sitting around starving and being encouraged to DRINK, for two hours while waiting for the food.

I think that’ll do.

I am off now to spend Sunday with my sick child, run errands, and make Romeo new jammies.

I'm a keeper!!

And I was so flustered by the gorgeousness of the BookWenches review that I almost posted this blog on Un:Bound. :)

Here it is (drum roll please...): Bookwenches review exacerbyte

Not a dry eye in the house here -- okay, it's only me, Romeo and Missy home, but they get it! :)

And just for fun -- this is Missy:
(I warned her there was an embarrassing picture coming up if she continued to sleep on the dog's bed... this was taken before we bought Romeo home, she hasn't been on his bed since! )

And this of course is the beautiful boy: Romeo:

And they both think BookWenches ROCK!!

Monday, June 20, 2011

So, this is Romeo...

This is Romeo.
He's asleep.
It's exhausting being so good looking.
No, really, it is.
I take him for a walk every morning and he hold his head just a little higher when people stop and fuss over him... oh, hell, they don't even have to stop, they just have to pause on the other side of the street... he knows they're looking at him. :)

Romeo's favorite thing (apart from little teeny bits of cherry cupcakes...) is to sleep.

Here he is in his red Pajamas... yeah, he's dozing again.

Today I discovered that he likes to chase tennis balls, and kinda fetches. Yeah, kinda. He brings the ball back and drops if where ever he feels like it. He'll do it twice, and then go lie down on his bed.
Quite frankly I can't blame him... fetch is a mindless game for lesser dogs.
Three is his thing.
He ran like a lunatic around the garden in a big figure eight  -three times, then, you guessed it... needed another nap.
When he's not asleep, he prefers to be hugged and stroked and generally made a fuss of by Squealer and Breezy. And then when The Boy Wonder get's home from work he gets a fuss made of him all over again.

We bought Romeo home on Sunday. By Sunday night he was pretty comfy in his new family. But today, he's started playing more. He's been cheeky from the beginning. Being such a quiet dog, he sneaks up on doorways and pokes his head around to see what's going on... pretty funny to see him do it.
He is very obedient. Very easy to walk (he'd sooner be asleep.)
This photo I love, this was from today... he's in mid crazy. Looks a bit mad, definitely in a weird position... he was making a tight turn at speed!

He leaps in the living room when I throw his stuffed giraffe to him, leaps and smacks it with his paws, then bounds about with it and eventually retires to cuddle G-G-Gerry the giraffe on his bed.

So, happy family all round.

A beautiful dog who is just happy to be here and embraces life, and happy kids who have a dog that adores them as much as they adore him.

Not to mention a happy me... cos now I have a dog again. :)

Even Missy the snooty cat is okay with him. It'd be hard not to be, he is very respectful of her!

Saturday night...

It’s Saturday night.

There is a new interview out today – I was interviewed byDavid Kentner this week.
It was a lot of fun and a very cool interview! (With an intro that made me blush!)
(But don’t even start with me and the stupid photo, okay? – wanna know what I actually look like… then go here.)

Today was busy, yep, busy is getting to be a habit. We got almost everything done, that was on the list for today too.

A little after mid-afternoon I received a phone call from GAP.

THEY HAVE A DOG FOR US.

So glad I finished making his bed this week… and then, today, when Action Man and I thought the bed wasn’t thick enough we both arrived at the same solution at once. The cot mattress!! It was sitting in the girls closet doing nothing. Now it’s the extra padding we needed for the dog.

He has a name: He is Romeo. (His racing name was Artic Romeo). He’s black and white and 35kg. Tomorrow there will be pictures.

Funnily enough I was looking at dog toys today… Action Man would not let me buy our future dog a toy rabbit (okay it did look creepily similar to Milly.) think I will buy Romeo the cute stuffed yellow duck though… come on, everyone needs a cuddly toy.

So tomorrow we’re leaving home at 8:30am – to drop Miss Kate home, go buy dog bowls and food, get gas, and drive for two hours to pick up a beautiful dog who wants to live with kids. And we have to remember to put his bed in the back of the truck, for the two hour drive home!!

Life is going to be different by this time tomorrow night. There will be a dog asleep near me and a cat looking scornfully at him from the top of the stereo (she’ll get over it, she actually likes dogs – she likes the way she is the boss of them.).

We’ve been a long time without a dog, so this is very cool indeed.

Of course now I need to go get more fleecy fabric (the thick stuff) and a pattern. I never thought I’d own a dog that needed pajamas and daywear… who knew?? Of course I find it hilarious. And have no problem making lovely mannish dog garments to keep him warm. (Sadly I only have purple fleece on hand… and it’s just not manly enough!)

And in other news… Domino’s ripped me off by almost $80 with a web ordering malfunction last night, and Pizza Hut managed to take almost $40 too… so not impressed when I realized I’d lost that much money and NEVER got ANY pizza at all. (In fact we went to McDonalds in the end because neither pizza joint could cope with Visa and web ordering.) Some fucked up malfunction happened on both websites last night but only Pizza Hut seem to have any clue how to handle it.

Have rung both places as soon as I realized what happened and had verified the charges with my bank.

I believe Pizza Hut will refund my money, they actually seemed to know what was going on and have a procedure in place, plus I wasn’t the first person to ring up and tell them I wanted my money back.

Domino’s however gave the impression that they didn’t give a flying fuck. This will change, the snot-nosed little dweeb I spoke to in Upper Hutt told me that my money would be refunded within two days and took NO details. I asked him how? He said the system would take care of it. Yeah right!

If it doesn’t happen – then I will go hang out in his store until I get my money back. Because I did not get any goods, therefore they had no right to take my money, and taking money unlawfully is theft.

The upshot of this ridiculous situation is… I will not order pizza online EVER again. Despite me having done so many times in the past… this screw up is HUGE, and Domino’s handling of the situation is pathetic. Charge me twice for something I never got after emailing me saying the order could not be processed??? Get FUCKED Domino’s – and give my money back.

Wednesday, already?

Wednesday, really?

Busy day.

Would be highly unusual for me to say it wasn’t a busy day.

This morning I woke to another interview request and true to form (I love how predictable the universe is these days) there was another sizable earthquake.

Tiresome.

Oh, yeah.

Must be hell for everyone in Christchurch. But that is all I’m going to say about Christchurch because it’s too soon and I can’t be trusted… the jokes are brewing, it’s only a matter of time before they rise up like liquefaction. Try as I might to  keep my pencil blunt, we know I’ll be reaching for the sharpener shortly.

So, the rest of the week looks set to be devoted to work, Thank God! (Actually thank whoever the fuck you want, I’m not bothered.)

Doing two interviews in one week (and it’s only Wednesday) has cut huge swathes out of my writing time, and that’s without being in the Author Spotlight on Backspace… although that was quiet today! (I don't know if that's good or bad, jury is still out.)

Tomorrow the plan is to sew the dog’s bed, which I was going to do today – but ran out of time. I shall also bake cherry cupcakes. (Seems the two dozen cupcakes I made yesterday are all but gone!) And I will write. I really want to get this 5th Byte novel finished by the middle of July.

Today while I was chatting on Twitter a new character began to emerge. I was talking with the very sparkly and hilarious Rouge and this wispy woman wafted across my vision. I could see a tiara,(quite frankly that’s not unusual in a conversation with Rouge… it’s how it is.), but then I saw the woman wearing it. She winked at me, flipped someone off and sauntered on her way. Damn, I liked her immediately.
I know we’ll meet again. Next time she’ll probably tell me her name. At least I hope she does, she looked fun. I have no idea where she’s from or what she does for a living… those things will all become apparent later. But hell, I loved her tiara!

Let's face it people, there are not enough tiaras being worn these days! (I know I've said it before, but it's true.)

The week so far...

I know it’s only Tuesday but let’s re-cap this week already shall we?

Well it was all going swimmingly yesterday morning. I spent the morning doing an interview which will be out on Friday.

Knowing that and how interviews seem to irk the fault line the next event really should not have been a surprise!

Christchurch’s faults must’ve felt like they needed to shake us all up again. (Was the attention moving elsewhere? Really, come on, did you not read my blog on friendship? It’s not all about you and you don’t need to create drama to be liked.) Geonet revised the quakes to 5.7 and 6.3 respectively. Let’s hope getting the size of the quakes upped like that will make the fault line happy.

I’m also in the Author Spotlight over at backspace this week. I know, cool huh? A whole week of me! I was a little apprehensive - truth be known… but turns out people did have some questions for me, so Yay!

No one on Twitter guessed who it was I had a crush on when I was 14. I have to say though some of the guesses were pretty freaking funny. I did provide clues. But apparently I was too clever? (Let’s chalk that one up, shall we?)

Currently – I’m working on Soundbyte, baking cupcakes and hoping Christchurch’s fault lines have gotten over themselves.

Right now I’m off to school to get the Breezy one.

Be good, take care… and if you belong to Backspace, drop by and harass me on my Author Spotlight thread!

It's MY life...

It’s My life…

Drama Queens need not apply.

Just lately my trusty Admins and I have noticed a disturbing upswing in drama queen bullshit.

Fuc’n cut it out!

Poor little me drama queen crap, is exactly that – crap. Suck it up princesses and move on.

Just so there is no confusion this is my definition of friendship.

A friend is a person who is okay with me being me.

A friend is someone who doesn’t mind hanging out and can cope with my being distracted when I’m working. (Okay, so that’s mostly, deal with it – it ain’t easy living in two worlds, if you were my friend you’d know that.)

A friend has a really good sense of humor. (Because if you can’t laugh at you, how the hell will you cope when I do?) I’m talking humor, not nastiness disguised as humor, actual amusement at the world and how funny life can be. And let me just tell you now – everything that happens has an element of humor, you just have to be willing to see it.

For the occasional time when I’m really fuc’n pissed at someone, a friend actually listens… (No matter who it is that I’m pissed at!) Everyone is allowed to get angry once in a while, we all get over it, IF you let us vent without making the situation bigger than it is and without hijacking it.

BUT what a friend is not allowed to do… is twist whatever I am saying and make it all about them. This is MY moment, so fuc’n deal with it.

Also – friends DO NOT make advances toward your son/daughter or your other friends.

Friends understand how a child’s Asperger’s traits, Anxiety Disorder, ADD, Sensory Processing Disorder - affects the child and YOU. And how fuc’n frustrating it can be at times WITHOUT judging when venting that frustration becomes necessary – a friend sees the situation as what it is – and gets it.

Friends are those people you spend a month with on vacation and still like a whole helluva lot when you come home.

They’re the people you trust most.

The ones who rescue you from a function in NYC when you’ve had too much wine and film your drunken Irish spiel in a hotel elevator and get you SAFELY back to your room while still laughing.

They’re the ones who see your Facebook status and arrive with wine and snacks or text and say they’re coming for coffee.

Friends are there no matter what.

With real friends - you can be honest, you can be you, and you are always safe.

You don’t have to tell friends what you’re like – they know what you’re like, they see you and love you anyway.

Friendship is not gender specific. (I know, right? I have male friends and, no, I do not want to bonk them – never have, never will. It’s not part of the equation. THEY ARE FRIENDS.)

Friendship is a two way street.

And most importantly - It’s not all about you! That’s right, it’s not.

In the last few weeks, it’s become apparent that I’m too old for this shit.

No kidding!

Feel free to add your own definitions!

Updating: the journey to living with a Greyhound.

As you no doubt know, a few months ago we decided it was time to get another dog. This is not a decision to be taken lightly, ever. Dogs are needy critters. We’ve been without a dog for six years. Then we met a couple of Greyhounds and it became very clear what kind of dog we wanted to bring into our family. Timing is everything - Breezy is now five, and at school, so I have more time to spend with a dog.

Milly the ancient bunny died two weeks ago today. In some ways she has opened the door wider to a new pet by her death. Missy the cat is too independent to really be bothered by another animal in the house. As long as SHE gets to sit on top of the stereo directly under the heat pump she’s happy. (And really, good luck to a Greyhound trying to climb on top of the TV cabinet to do that!)

We’ve gone through the adoption process, passed all the requirements, and received final approval last night. We have a baby gate on hand, have taken down the bridge to Kane’s place (– kids are old enough to use the front door now! And Kane is a regular Tigger – he’s quite capable of jumping the six foot fence unaided.). The deck railing has been heightened with a bamboo screen to prevent our dog leaning over and possibly tearing himself on the fence between the railings while trying to say hello to Gholden and Raro next door.

There is a Greyhound sized gap in the living room, close to the heat, where the rabbit hutch used to be. The only thing I need to do now, is make the GIANT pillow cases for the two duvets. (Two single duvets folded in half and piled on top of each other inside a warm fleecy case = Greyhound bed)

I get to sew for a dog! Isn’t that just hilarious? Greyhounds have thin skin, thin fur, no fat… they need jammies on cold night, and fleecy coats during the day, and raincoats. I’m seeing a HUGE opportunity to advertise my books… on my dog’s back. Little dogs wearing clothes irk me, but the idea of something as regal as a Greyhound with a coat on – seems quite normal.

I don’t think I’m the only one looking forward to bringing a Greyhound home – Action Man is regularly looking at the GAP website, seeing which dogs are there and who he likes the look of. Kids are obviously excited. Boy Wonder loves the idea of another dog but isn’t totally sold on a Greyhound as that dog – yet. Thing with him is, he LOVES dogs, all dogs. I know he’ll fall in love with any dog coming into our family. And hopefully, he’ll be coming with us to see the dog too. (So will the Admins. Because this is a family thing.)

I’m most looking forward to having an intelligent dog around again and to having a large animal asleep in the living room. (The cat looks at me funny when I ramble on at her about the latest WIP – but dogs seem to like it.) Plus I get company on the walk to school and back. Which might be too much for the dog, twice a day… they don’t much like to exercise. Will start with just the morning walk and build up to the afternoons.

Right, that’s all from me this Friday.

As soon as we find our dog I’ll post pictures.

Meanwhile – you could buy my books… Greyhounds don’t come cheap ya know.

Murder board

As much as I hate the idea of using Post-it notes. Ever. Again. It occurred to me last night that Soundbyte requires a murder board.
I need to bring out the BIG white board... but I'm also going to need Post-it notes/sticky notes. Because it's easier to move things around when they're sticky. Yes, it is. (And for you smart asses that think magnets and memo squares would work, you're right, but I don't see me going out to find small enough magnets to do the job with a sick Breezy!)

Last night I was making notes, and it became very obvious that this case is too complicated for my notebook - it needs to be a single timeline all spread out so I can see it all at once.

I'm going to open the packet of sticky notes that I bought in the States (They're really fun - and say across the top "Things you do that really piss me off.") - I have to open them because I have no Post-it's or sticky notes in the house. For good reason, if you've read killerbyte and terrorbyte then you're probably not keen on sticky type notes either. I especially don't like those extra sticky ones.

Would be handy if I had someone to discuss this case with! Dammit why don't I have my own team?? Would make this one a lot easier. lol

Okay so I kinda do, but no one else can hear them. :)

Think Breezy's throat is a bit better (yay for Pamol), suspecting her temp is still up - she's rambling like a loon.

Have a good Tuesday folks!

And awesomeness... Action Man forgot to take the wheelie bin out this morning... I rushed it out and hoped like hell the garbage man hadn't been. He hasn't. Whew! :)

One way or Another

Sometimes you just need to hear Blondie.
Maybe I felt like hearing this after writing a short story titled, One way or Another. And, yeah, it is a Byte short. Listen to the song  - you should be able to tell what the story is about.

Sometime this weekend I will give it a final tweak and send it to my publisher. Us Rebels were asked to come up with a few short stories and so forth. So far I've managed one. But I did enjoy it, it is on some level cathartic - so there you go.

Apart from a short story for my publisher I am currently working on the 5th Byte novel.
Last week it got quite rough going - thankfully I think I have finished the horrid scenes and can now move on with the story!

Soundbyte excerpt
Chapter one:
Under my Umbrella.

Breathless.
With my hands on my hips, I bent at the waist and breathed hard. I huffed in air trying to fill my lungs. Thick sticky air clogged my throat almost choking me. Today I hate Washington in the spring. Pounding feet from across the street came to an abrupt stop. I looked over. Lee was standing on the street corner. One hand resting on the rain splattered building, as he too attempted to suck in vast quantities of air. I caught his eye and shook my head. A song erupted from somewhere close I looked into the windows next to me expecting it be a cafĂ© or hair salon which might account for the music.
No such luck.
Kevin Costner and Modern West sang Maria Nay. My own private concert and it made no sense. I wasn’t chasing a woman. Maybe my mind didn’t know any songs about chasing someone in the rain?

* * *
Hope y'all have an excellent weekend.

I'm out of bed... so it's looking more promising than it was an hour ago.

Friday - teacher only day

Today me and Breezy get to stay home and do nothing much. (And if you're not a kiwi, you probably don't grasp the concept of 'nothing much' - so this might help...)

It's Friday. Usually that would mean school... but today is a teacher only day. Couldn't come at a better time really - I feel like crap and the thought of doing anything much is beyond me. Seems the bugs-on-a-plane have weakened my immune system and now I have kiwi bugs... not cool! I'm highly unimpressed.

So, news this week?

Nothing much.

Just turned the pages in my day planner from Tuesday to Friday... there was nothing in between! Pretty sure I did stuff though. It just wasn't anything I had to write in the day planner!

Am writing Soundbyte.
It is the 5th byte novel. And it's downright icky in places. I know... and I'm the one saying it. Imagine that?
Not icky as in gory or bloody, so that will either please or piss people off. It's icky on a whole other level.

A few things happened this week.
1. Discovered someone screwed up links on a website - one to someone who IS NOT ME. Another to a website I haven't used in years.
2. Friends of ours are moving south. So at some point I will have to tell Squealer and Breezy, and I don't want to.
3. Dished out pep talk to good friend who was in dire need after rotten review. (Some people are nasty because they can be, it certainly had no merit.)
4. Took guidelines into Breezy's school for a story competition that the Admins and I are judging. The school is pushing the contest and giving the kids until the end of term to write their stories. Hopefully we'll get some interesting reading for the holidays!
5. Had long interview with GAP (the lovely Lynette) - so, hopefully, won't be long before we have a Greyhound.

Enjoy your Friday.

Oh and one last thing:

Happy Birthday Ex. :-)

(It's already your birthday here in the Southern Hemisphere...)

I see you...
